Winter Recess

Pratt Elementary is a small K–5 public school nestled in the heart of Prospect Park at 66 Malcolm Ave. SE. with approximately 160 students spanning 6 grade levels, it’s the smallest and most historic school in Minneapolis.

Pratt Commmunity School reflects the community school philosophy, offering arts and technology integration with the basic curriculum. The outstanding teachers at Pratt provide a learning environment that is inviting to students and their families. Students are provided an individualized learning plan (ILP) and a variety of teaching strategies to meet their needs. During the school year, the students focus on core subjects which best prepare them for future studies. Half of their time is spent on language arts and mathematics. The remaining instructional time concentrates on science, social studies, art, music, technology and physical education.

LOOKING FOR SUMMER FUN FOR YOUR CHILD?  SUMMER SPLASH IS BACK AT PRATT & LUXTON PARK!

Summer Splash is a great six-week program for children who have completed kindergarten through grade 5.  Summer Splash is held  Monday through Friday, June 21 through July 29, 1:00-4:15 pm.  We gather at Luxton Park, then walk as a group to Pratt School where most of our afternoon activities take place, and return to Luxton Park for parent pick-up at 4:15 pm.  Activities include sports, arts, crafts, games, an afternoon at the nearby Textile Center, computers, cooking, fun reading activities, and more.  We also go on a field trip each Friday including the newest Three Rivers Regional Park at Silverwood,  Fort Snelling, Roller Gardens, Lupient Waterpark and Long Lake Regional Park Beach.

The fee for the entire six weeks including all activities, a t-shirt, and  field trips is $129 for Minneapolis residents.  Scholarships are available.  Summer Splash is co-sponsored by Pratt Community Education, Eastside Neighborhood Services, and Minneapolis Parks & Recreation—Luxton Park.  Call Jan Thurn at 612-668-1100 for more information or to register.
