MPS Comprehensive Design Process: Possible Implications for Pratt

mps_clip.png

Dear Pratt Community.

Over the past 18 months MPS has been collecting and analyzing data to consider options for paths to best serve all MPS students. This Comprehensive District Design process included review of enrollment trends, academic results, and survey input from families.

The Comprehensive District Design focused on three goals:
  1. Improving academics for all students in our school
  2. Financial sustainability for the district into the future, including through increased retention and new enrollment
  3. Programming and school choice with equitable access to all students across the district

The proposals will affect schools in different ways. The proposal for Pratt is that our middle school pathway would change from Sanford to a newly created middle school at Andersen in school year 21-22. The Special Education Department is also proposing that specialized programming for students with ASD take place at Pratt which means that we would have one ASD classroom.

The preliminary presentation of the District Design will take place on April 30 at the School Board’s Committee of the whole  meeting.(See website for memo and presentation)  Following that meeting, input from the Board and community will take place in May and beyond. The Board vote on a final plan is scheduled for August.
